Festpac, the Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture, announced that the Hawaii Convention Center will be the home for the international event in 2020, marking the festival's first visit to Hawaii in its 50-year history.
Approximately 10,000 visitors and delegates from 28 nations are expected on the island of Oahu in June 2020 for the event.
Festpac showcases visual art, films, poetry and other material from Pacific Island countries and territories, in addition to cultural practitioners and discussions on critical issues in the Pacific.
"Being selected as the main Festpac venue is an honor for the Hawaii Convention Center and a testament to its experience, infrastructure and quality of resources," Chris Tatum, president and CEO of the Hawaii Tourism Authority, said in a statement.
During its 11-day run, the festival will also host events at Bishop Museum, Magic Island and the Hawaii State Art Museum.
