Visitors to the Big Island of Hawaii will see the return of the Ironman World Championship, taking place Oct. 6 and Oct. 8 in Kailua-Kona. This is the first time since 2019 that the event will be held in Hawaii, because of the pandemic. Last year, it was held in St. George, Utah.

Men and women triathletes will compete in a 140.6-mile journey that will take them 2.4 miles into Kailua Bay, on a 112-mile bike route and on a 26.2-mile run on Queen Kaahumanu Highway.

The race starts at Kailua Bay on Alii Drive. Road closures will be in effect. Get there early to grab a seat on the downtown seawall to watch, or volunteer at aid stations along the route.
