Peter Thoene has been named the director of sales and marketing at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows, an oceanfront property on the Big Island of Hawaii’s northwestern Kohala Coast.

A longtime hospitality industry veteran, Thoene most recently served as the director of sales at the Mauna Kea Resort on the Big Island. Thoene had previously worked as the director of sales for the Big Island’s Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa as well as the Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa and Kapalua Bay Hotel on Maui.
“Peter is well-respected in the industry and has strong working relationships with key decision makers,” Rodney Ito, the Mauna Lani’s general manager, said in a statement. “Peter’s early career included time at Mauna Lani, so he is well-versed in the assets of Mauna Lani’s cultural preservations and environmental traditions.”
The Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows features 341 guestrooms and is located 23 miles north of the Kona airport.
