The 252-room Mauna Kea Beach hotel, located on the Big
Island of Hawaii’s northwestern coast, has completed work on a new 3,500-square-foot
ballroom.
The meeting and event space has been named the Kaunaoa
Ballroom, for the gorgeous bay by the hotel, and features three floor-to-ceiling
windows, showcasing the property’s dramatic beachfront views.
“We’re proud to introduce such a unique and versatile space
as the Kaunaoa Ballroom,” Peter Thoene, the resort’s director of sales and
marketing, said in a statement. “In addition to prime facilities and luxurious
amenities, an array of on-property activities, ranging from championship golf to
enhanced beach services and cultural classes, positions Mauna Kea Beach Hotel
as the Hawaii Island’s top choice for meetings, weddings, social functions and
other events.”
The new ballroom is part of a $4.5 million renovation of the
Mauna Kea’s promenade level, which includes the new Copper Bar. According to
resort officials, the new meeting space is flexible for events of various sizes
and offers prefunction and breakout room space, including the lanai surrounding
the ballroom as well as a nearby open-air area.
The Mauna Kea is offering a special introductory,
three-night-minimum package to groups of 25 or more that includes oceanfront
rooms, complimentary WiFi, a VIP round of golf for four and 10% off the cost of
banquet menus. Groups may also qualify to receive a one-bedroom suite upgrade
per every 50 room nights booked.
