The Polynesian Cultural Center on Oahu will unveil a new luau program in December, "Onipaa," a tribute to the kingdom of Hawaii monarch Queen Liliuokalani.
Onipaa is a Hawaiian word meaning "steadfast," and the event includes a lei greeting, unveiling of the imu (underground oven), and blessing of the food. During dinner, a song, dance and storytelling performance delivers the tale of Queen Liliuokalani, the last sovereign monarch of the Hawaiian Islands.
The Polynesian Cultural Center also recently introduced the Holoholo Canoe Ride, a 25-minute guided tour highlighting activities guests can experience at the center's six island villages representing Tonga, Fiji, Aotearoa, Hawaii, Samoa and Tahiti.
