Puu Kaa State Wayside, a popular scenic stop for travelers along the Road to Hana on Maui, will be closed through May 12 for a rehabilitation project, according to the Hawaii State Department of Land and Natural Resources.
"The wayside occupies an idyllic area with waterfalls and pools that attract guests year-round," the department said in a statement. Work includes painting and updating the restrooms, pavilions and railings.

Visitors often stop to swim in the pools or picnic at the tables on their Road to Hana journey.
"The DLNR Division of State Parks staff asks that tour companies, visitors and locals avoid entering Puu Kaa parking lots and park areas during construction for their own safety and to prevent traffic congestion," the statement said.
