Travelers booking rental cars in Honolulu over the Christmas holiday season will pay the highest daily rates in the nation, according to a survey by CheapCarRentals.com.
The cheapest available car in Honolulu between Dec. 22 and Dec. 27 will cost renters $106 a day, or 112% more than what customers normally pay at the destination, the website said.
However, the steepest increases in rental-car rates over the Christmas holiday was recorded in Miami, where companies have increased prices 250% over the normal rate, to $84 a day.
New Orleans finished third on the website’s ranking of the 30 most expensive car-rental destinations in the U.S., charging customers $81 a day for the cheapest available vehicle, or 35% more than usual.
