Fiesta Amigos de Mazatlan 2020 wrapped at the end of October as the first travel trade event to be hosted in Mexico since Covid-19. There were 150 participants in attendance at the hybrid event. Business meetings were conducted virtually, but visitors were able to take part in site inspections in person.

During the event, it was announced that a proposed aquarium is still on track to open next year. Additional sections of the Centro Historico have been renovated, as well.

The destination is expecting several new hotel openings next year, including a Fiesta Americana, Fiesta Inn, a Marriott and a Holiday Inn.
