With travel to Mexico one of the only options for Americans right now, it’s important to consider travel and each individual’s Covid-19 footprint. A Covid-19 footprint refers to the amount of risk a traveler puts themselves and others through in the course of travel. Keeping your Covid footprint low, especially when traveling to other countries, is important in terms of responsible travel.

One of the best ways to decrease the Covid footprint is to invest in extended trips, which cut down on the amount of time you’re actually traveling. Several hotels in Mexico are encouraging travelers to stay for longer stretches of time with special packages and work-from-home/home schooling amenities.

For example, the St. Regis Punta Mita has introduced the concept of "workations," making it easy for travelers who are now working remotely to travel and stay longer, without compromising their career or children’s education. The program includes fully equipped offices, customized menus to meet special dietary needs and professional services that can aid home schooling, like after-school activities.

Similarly, the Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita has debuted its Knowledge for All Seasons program, which was created to make distance learning and working convenient for kids and parents. The resort offers a tech hotline and study buddy program as well as after-school sports, art, culture and history classes. The resort has created designated study cabanas for parents on the job. These poolside and beach huts are transformed into private workstations outfitted with WiFi, a TV monitor, a portable charger and energizing snacks.

The Conrad Punta de Mita, which is set to open Sept. 1, is offering the Work From Paradise Package. With starting rates of $260, the package includes access to premium WiFi, a daily $75 resort credit, early check-in/late checkout and a 50% discount on the Serene Spa for an after-work treat.

The Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit is offering its Home to Grand extended-stay program, which includes unlimited WiFi, private airport transportation, room upgrades, private beach dinners, cooking classes and more.

On the Caribbean coast, the Rosewood Mayakoba has debuted a long-term private residence experience. Each residence can be customized based on the needs of each guest, with bespoke office amenities and educational tools and add-ons like culinary offerings, wellness experiences at the spa and after-school classes with Rosewood Explorers.

The two-, three- and four-bedroom villas are available for 20 nights and longer and each will receive a personalized Family Discovery program. These are tailored to each family and can include cooking classes, taco parties, outdoor activities, language lessons and more.
