Botswana has introduced an obligatory $30 tourism development levy for all travelers to Botswana as of June 1. The objective of the levy is to raise funds for conservation and natural tourism development.

The levy will be payable at all ports of entry, including airports and border posts, through electronic payment machines, which accept cash as well as debit and credit cards. A receipt corresponding to the passport will be automatically generated once payment is made; the receipt is valid for a 30-day period and can be used for multiple entries.
