Intrepid Travel has committed $100,000 AUD (about $69,000 U.S.) to support relief, aid, and rescue efforts in Turkiye and Syria following an earthquake that left more than 5,000 people dead.

The Australia-based tour operator will dollar match donations to the Turkiye and Syria Earthquake Appeal up to $100,000 AUD. Intrepid has further committed to donating all profits from bookings made on trips in Turkiye until April 30, 2023, to support the appeal.

The tour operator said its nonprofit, Intrepid Foundation, has partnered with the Australian Red Cross to ensure funds are effectively allocated.

Intrepid operates 30 tours in Turkiye and has 25 local team members based out of its Istanbul office. The company had one group in the country at the time of the earthquake, who are all safe and were on the opposite side of the country from the earthquake's epicenter, Intrepid said.
