WildPlaces Africa, an operator of luxury safari lodges and camps across Uganda, will expand its portfolio in early 2026 with the opening of a new lodge, Kulu Ora. The new lodge will be WildPlaces Africa's seventh property and the group's second in Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda's largest protected area.
Set in a newly designated, 290-square-mile, low-impact zone within the park, Kulu Ora will offer travelers access to a remote section of Murchison Falls, shared only with its sister property, Papa's Camp. The location is designed to guarantee privacy and crowd-free wildlife viewing, including opportunities to see Uganda's Big Seven (mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and Cape buffaloes). It also offers some of the country's best lion sightings and exceptional birding and Nile River fishing opportunities.
Kulu Ora will feature 11 canvas-walled suites, each with private plunge pools and river views, as well as a two-bedroom group suite. The main lodge will include a swimming pool suitable for laps, a spacious pool deck and bar and a library with curated African literature. A spa overlooking the Nile will offer treatments using locally sourced oils and butters. Wellness offerings will include yoga, meditation and forest bathing beneath indigenous trees.
The lodge's design prioritizes sustainability: It's fully solar-powered, uses electric carts for guest transport and is constructed for minimal environmental impact. All buildings are designed to be removable, and the property operates an on-site walled garden for fresh produce. A $25 per bed night conservation levy is included, supporting park protection and local community projects.
Access to Kulu Ora is available via daily scheduled flights from Entebbe or Kajjansi to Murchison Falls, private charters or a five-hour drive from Kampala.
