Celebrity impressionist Gordie Brown returned to the Strip, kicking off "Gordie Brown Live" at the Cabaret inside Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on May 9.
Brown hadn't been far away. For the past seven years, he's been a fixture on Fremont Street, where he played inside the showroom at the Golden Nugget since 2009. His gig there wrapped up in late November, and now the master impressionist will be doing his best Bruno Mars and Jack Nicholson five nights a week at Planet Hollywood.
"The venue is intimate and will take me back to my roots of small clubs," said Brown via a press release. "It will allow the energy to flow back and forth between me and the audience and an intimate environment, allowing the crowd to engage with the characters I bring to life in my impressions."
Meanwhile, Mat Franco, who is 600 shows into his first Las Vegas residency at the Linq Hotel & Casino, will now perform in a theater named for him. In honor of the "America's Got Talent" winner's success at the young center-Strip property, the Linq Theater is being rechristened as the Mat Franco Theater, effective July 10. "Mat Franco — Magic Reinvented Nightly" debuted at the Linq in August 2015 and has since been named best magic show by the Las Vegas Review-Journal and "best Strip show" by Las Vegas Weekly.
"Magic Reinvented Nightly" plays Thursdays through Tuesdays at the Linq with tickets from $59.
