Fremont Street Experience will celebrate Cinco de Mayo with its inaugural Drinko de Mayo Festival on Sunday, May 5.
Ten bands on three stages will set the tone for the free, 40-hour Latin Street Party on the outdoor, six-block entertainment district in downtown Las Vegas, with many bars and restaurants offering drink specials to mark the occasion.
Outlaw Mariachi, Titico, Banda Desierto, Latin Breeze, Mariachi Franco, Volume 1 and XCSO will be among the those performing, starting at noon.
There will be a silent disco dance party, experienced through wireless headphones. Dancers and roving performers, wearing elaborate Latin costumes, will also entertain guests.
Plaza party, too
At the west end of Fremont Street Experience is the Plaza Hotel & Casino, which will also host a free Cinco de Drinko party starting at 4 p.m.
The party will feature a mariachi band, folklorico dancers, a DJ with a mix of Latin music and a king-size donkey pinata for photo ops (but not for whacking). The Plaza's photo house will include various other festive props to help selfie-taking guests record their fun and share on social media.
Churros, street tacos and Mexican street corn salad will be available for purchase. The Carousel Bar will offer drink specials all night long, including margaritas, micheladas, Modelo beer and tequila shots. Pinkbox Doughnuts will also have fried sweets in the day's theme.
