Cobra’s Curse, a spinning roller
coaster scheduled to open at Tampa’s Busch Gardens this summer, is now
undergoing testing.
The final piece of track for
the serpentine thrill ride was bolted into place last month.
Busch Gardens says the steel-framed
Cobra’s Curse will be the only one of its kind in the world. Spanning 2,100
feet, the ride lasts three-and-half minutes and will feature a 70-foot vertical
lift that takes guests within inches of the fangs of an 80-foot-high snake king
statue before spinning forward, backward and finally freely at speeds of up to
40 mph.
While waiting in line for
Cobra’s Curse, riders will pass a 400-cubic-foot snake exhibit housing Angolan
pythons, vipers and Jameson’s mambas.
