Alaskan Dream Cruises is making major updates to transform the 12-passenger Kruzof Explorer from a crab boat to a small-group expedition vessel.

Alaskan Dream Cruises will soon sail select Inside Passage routes on a former Bering Sea crab boat renovated to accommodate small-group expeditions.

Major updates will transform the 12-passenger Kruzof Explorer from a fishing vessel to a comfortable, six-stateroom cruiser with en suite bathrooms, large windows, dining and lounge facilities and an outdoor deck for wildlife viewing. The hold where fishing crews stored the daily king crab catch will be converted into a theater room, and the 5-ton crane that once hauled crab pots will load and unload the boat's Zodiac.

"People throughout the world have seen these remarkable Alaska crab vessels in action on popular TV shows. Now they'll have a chance to sail aboard one while voyaging through the famous Inside Passage," said Zakary Kirkpatrick, marketing director for Alaskan Dream Cruises. "This is a true Alaska adventure. We'll be exploring stunning, remote areas seen by very few travelers. Guests will experience two designated wilderness areas, two national monuments and Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve."

The Kruzof Explorer will accommodate eight Alaska's Remote Wilderness Expedition departures between July and September 2019. Discounted inaugural-season rates start at $9,895 per person (regularly $12,495 per person) and include onboard accommodations, food and beverages during sailing, scheduled shore activities, use of recreational equipment and airport transfers.
