There's nothing like watching the stories of ill-fated lovers unfold to make you feel better about your own love life, and the Palazzo has just the thing for lovelorn theater goers.
"Baz — Star Crossed Love," a show that debuted in the redesigned Palazzo Theatre on June 25, features the work of Australian filmmaker Baz Luhrmann, who was behind "Romeo + Juliet," "The Great Gatsby," "Moulin Rouge" and "Strictly Ballroom."
The show was in development for five years and is the work of For the Record, a Los Angeles-based theatrical company known for turning movie soundtracks into live, immersive theater performances.
"As the entertainment landscape in Las Vegas continues to evolve, productions like 'Baz' appeal to audiences who are looking for something unique," George Markantonis, president and chief operating officer of the Venetian, the Palazzo and Sands Expo said in a statement announcing the show. "This is not a show staged within the confines of traditional theater."
The show, which has been staged in limited engagements throughout the country, was reformulated for the Palazzo. The venue was designed around the unique format, a reimagined storyline was created to tie the show's production numbers together, and a new song from Luhrmann's upcoming Netflix original series "The Get Down" was added to the set list.
"Baz — Star Crossed Love" runs Tuesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. in the Palazzo Theatre. Tickets start at $59.50 and can be purchased at any box office at the Venetian or the Palazzo, at palazzo.com, or by calling (702) 414-9000 or (866) 641-7469.
