Last week MGM Resorts named its newest hire: former Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval, who is transitioning straight from public office into a new executive role with the gaming and hospitality company.
Sandoval's new title will be president of global gaming development, and according to MGM's announcement, he'll be responsible for steering the company's expansion into new global markets as well as working on policy issues around the growth of sports betting.
With Sandoval focused on MGM's expansion efforts and, in particular, landing one of the first integrated casino resorts in Japan, MGM Resorts president Bill Hornbuckle will drive global marketing for the Las Vegas-based company.
Sandoval returns to the private sector after decades in politics and public service. In addition to being governor, he served as a federal judge, state attorney general, chairman of the Nevada Gaming Commission and in the Nevada Assembly.
