MegaCon, a gathering of fans of horror, sci-fi, anime, comics and gaming, will be descending on two Florida locations in the coming months. From May 24 to 27, the Orange County Convention Center will play host to MegaCon Orlando, and MegaCon Tampa Bay is scheduled for the Tampa Convention Center from September 21 to 23. More than 30,000 fans are expected to attend each of the events. Tickets start at $20 per person, and all ages are welcome.
The convention features activities, events, celebrity appearances and talkbacks as well as plenty of photo and retail opportunities for artists and collectors.
This year, the conventions will feature some major celebrity guests, including "Lord of The Rings" star Elijah Wood, Billy Dee Williams ("Star Wars: Episode V and Episode VI"), Mitch Pileggi ("The X-Files") and Lucy Lawless, best known as the title character from "Xena: Warrior Princess." MegaCon Orlando will comprise 400,000 square feet of shopping and events. Some highlights include the opportunity to get up close to the 1989 Batmobile from the Tim Burton film, photo opportunities with the 501st Legion Stormtroopers from "Star Wars," a Lego display with play stations for kids of all ages and a tattoo pavilion -- the only professional tattoo program with a Lucasfilm partnership.
