A lively tribute to the Spice Girls will open July 1 for a four-week engagement at Excalibur in Las Vegas.
"Spice Wannabe -- The Spice Girls Tribute" will feature five-part harmonies, original choreography and iconic costumes as well as live performances of the group's big hits, like "Wannabe," "2 Become 1," "Say You'll Be There," "Spice Up Your Life," and "Too Much."
The engagement coincides with the 25th anniversary of their second album, "SpiceWorld," which reached No. 1 in 13 countries. The Spice Girls have sold more 90 million records worldwide.
The production "is all about getting audiences up on their feet singing and dancing along to the songs, while the cast breaks the fourth wall, making the show a truly interactive experience," said creator and co-producer, Casey McConachie, who also plays Baby Spice in the production. "When you attend our show, we consider you part of the 'Spice Wannabe' family and encourage you to dress up as your favorite Spice Girl, as many of us did back in the '90s!"
McConachie said she studied many details to capture the unique energy of Baby Spice, Scary Spice, Sporty Spice, Ginger Spice and Posh Spice. The show also features the Spice Boys dancers with choreography created by Jonathan Claudio. Justin Velarde, who is the production's costume designer, also performs as a Spice Boy.
"Spice Wannabe" begins Saturday, July 1, and runs through Thursday, July 27, with performances at 7 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 5 p.m. Saturdays. Tickets range from $50 to $81 (plus tax and fees). For more information, visit SpiceWannabe.com.
