The Arctic Husky Hike and Wilderness Lunch from Arctic Dog Adventure Company offers a new summer tour experience for Fairbanks-area visitors.
During the half-day excursion, guests pair up with a Siberian Husky, learn to harness the dog, and depart for a guided walk through the surrounding boreal forests. As they navigate alpine ridges and take in views of the White Mountains and Chatanika River Valley, participants learn about local wildflowers, wildlife and geology.
Guides also discuss the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, daily life for sled dogs and off-grid living in Interior Alaska. Hot drinks are included in the tour price, and a campfire lunch spotlights local ingredients.
The seasonal, small-group tours, available through October, are $89 for adults, $20 for children up to age 12, and free for ages three and under. Details at www.arcticdogco.com.
