NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. -- AmaWaterways is planning to build a second AmaMagna ship.

The ship is expected to debut in 2027, said Kristin Karst, executive vice president and co-founder of AmaWaterways, who made the announcement at this year's Travel Leaders Network Edge conference.

The company debuted the 196-passenger AmaMagna in May 2019. The ship is 72 feet wide, almost twice the width of AmaWaterways' other river cruise ships, offering larger cabins and more dining venues. It has a full-size pickleball court. The ship sails Danube River itineraries.

The new ship, Karst said, will likely feature improved-upon aspects of the first AmaMagna.

The second AmaMagna will join other new ships the company plans to launch in the next two years, including a ship on the Mekong River in Southeast Asia and in Europe on the Rhine and Danube rivers.
