American Cruise Lines has launched the American Melody, the fourth ship in its modern riverboat series.

The company said on Monday the ship made its inaugural splash into the Wicomico River at ACL's Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury, Md., last week.

The ship, with five decks and 91 staterooms, is scheduled to begin sailing the Mississippi next summer.

ACL will also debut American Jazz in March 2021, its third modern riverboat, which before the pandemic had been scheduled to begin cruising the Mississippi this past summer.

American's fifth modern riverboat, yet to be named, is due in 2022, and the company said it plans to continue releasing one to two new modern riverboats per season in the years ahead.

Last week, the company released a virtual tour of its new ships.
