Two new barges will join Belmond’s fleet in France in 2017. Launching next summer will be the Belmond Lilas and Belmond Pivoine, both of which will hold eight passengers and be available exclusively for private bookings.

The Lilas and Pivoine will bring Belmond’s French fleet to seven and will ferry travelers through the regions of Alsace and Champagne, respectively. Sample itineraries for the former include vineyard tours, a visit to the Vosges cathedral and a tasting at Meteor Brewery, which dates to 1640. The Pivoine, meanwhile, will cruise to the site of WWI battles, the birthplace of champagne and the city of Reims.

Both barges have four cabins, a lounge, a dining room and outdoor deck with heated swimming pool. Cruises on the two vessels will start at $6,673 per passenger for six-night departures.

Belmond is also celebrating the 20th anniversary of its “Belmond Road to Mandalay” river cruise in Myanmar this fall with a four-night sailing that follows the trip’s original route from Bagan to Mandalay. Belmond is donating 5% of each ticket for the journey to the Belmond Myanmar Foundation to support a new hospital in Bagan.
