Pandaw River Expeditions said its Kindat Pandaw ship had a "minor"
collision with a pontoon bridge on the Ganges River.
Reports said there were no injuries, but passengers were
evacuated to the riverbank.
"Indeed, there was a very minor collision with a pontoon
bridge on the Upper Ganges, and the hull was holed above the waterline. The
hole is just a few inches in diameter and has been plugged," Pandaw Group
founder Paul Strachan said in a statement. "A welder is on his way to seal it.
At no point were passengers at risk and they were disembarked only as a
precaution."
The 36-passenger, two deck ship is one of two shallow-draft
Pandaw river vessels that sail the Ganges as far as Burma.
