Tauck and Viking have become the latest river cruise lines to get onboard with the trend of offering more active shore excursions.

For its 2018 and 2019 departures, Viking is adding the option for guests to go canoeing in the wetlands on the Elbe, Danube and Moselle rivers and on a tributary of the Seine. Viking has also added bike and e-bike tours that are available in Austria's Wachau Valley, among the windmills of Kinderdijk in the Netherlands and through Germany's Black Forest.

For its spring 2018 sailings, Tauck is offering additional guided biking outings, hiking opportunities and onboard yoga-inspired stretching classes.
