The Airports Council International (ACI) trade association has launched an app that provides travelers with information about the health measures in place at airports around the world.
Close to 200 airports have provided information for the Check & Fly app thus far, ACI-North America spokesman David Whitely said, and Check & Fly is being updated regularly with more airports. The app can be downloaded at the Apple App Store.
"The Check & Fly app provides a way for airports to communicate to passengers directly as to what to expect when they plan to travel, helping them to meet any requirements and making their journeys smoother and more efficient," ACI said.
The WTTC's Gloria Guevara said that countries need to institute consistent safety protocols, in contrast to the post-9/11 period when varying airport security procedures hindered travel's recovery.
The app's introduction comes a week after ACI unveiled its Airport Health Accreditation program, which aspires to set a global standard for airport health measures during the Covid-19 pandemic. Both initiatives have been rolled out as part of an ACI effort to assuage the public's fear about the air travel.
