Alaska Airlines has announced a partnership with regional Hawaiian carrier Mokulele.

Under the terms of the agreement, flights on Mokulele will be available for purchase through the Alaskaair.com website beginning early next year. Alaska has yet to announce a specific date for the integration.

Mokulele offers as many as 150 peak-day departures and serves 10 airports in Hawaii, including at least one on all five major islands. The carrier mostly utilizes nine-seat Cessna turboprops, but this summer also began flying two 30-seat Saab twin-engine turboprops.

Alaska Mileage Plan members can earn miles

Mokulele is also set become Alaska's newest loyalty program partner. Under the terms of the new agreement, Alaska Mileage Plan members will earn a full mile for every mile flown on Mokulele flights booked on the Alaska Airlines website.

The partnership will position Alaska to indirectly compete with the interisland service offered by Hawaiian Airlines and Southwest.
