American Airlines will re-introduce full beverage service, including alcohol, in first- and business-class cabins of all domestic flights beginning May 1.
The carrier will also re-introduce beverage service, including canned drinks, juice and water, in the main cabin of all domestic flights beginning May 1.
American also said that that later in the summer it will resume full main cabin service, as well, including alcohol and food for purchase.
The carrier currently offers drink service on domestic flights of 2,200 miles or longer, including alcohol in premium cabins. On shorter flights, customers in any cabin can request beverage service, with alcohol available by request in first and business class.

"American's reintroduction of beverage service is a careful and informed process to ensure everyone onboard feels safe and comfortable," said Brady Byrnes, vice president of flight service. "When customers fly with American, they are trusting us with their safety. We worked closely with the union that represents our flight attendants, the Association of Professional Flight Attendants, and medical experts on this process."
American will join some of its competitors in beefing up cabin service. Both Southwest and Delta have also recently added a beverage option, with Delta also bumping up its food availability.
