American Airlines has set launch dates for flights from New York JFK to Tel Aviv and Athens.

Daily JFK-Tel Aviv service begins on May 6. The carrier joins a market currently served by Delta and El Al, Cirium data shows. United and El Al are also scheduled to fly this summer from Newark to Tel Aviv.

American will fly daily from JFK to Athens on a seasonal basis from June 2 through Oct. 30 competing against Delta. In addition, United and Emirates are scheduled to fly Newark-Athens this summer, according to Cirium.

American will operate both routes with a three-class Boeing 777-200.

The carrier first announced that it would serve New York from Tel Aviv and Athens in July as it unveiled an East Coast connecting partnership arrangement with JetBlue.
