Caribbean Star, Sun expand Trinidad base, flights

Sister airlines Caribbean Star and Caribbean Sun expanded operations in Trinidad and added more daily flights from Trinidad to Antigua, effective next month.

The carriers will establish a new crew base for 30 pilots, first officers and flight attendants and a maintenance facility for four employees at Piarco Airport in Port of Spain.

As a result, two aircraft will be positioned full time at the airport Mondays through Wednesdays and three aircraft Thursdays through Sundays, beginning July 13.

Caribbean Star will launch a new daily roundtrip flight from Trinidad to Antigua July 14 to supplement Caribbean Sun’s daily service that began in early April.

Also, Caribbean Star will resume daily service from Trinidad to Guyana on July 13. The carrier previously operated flights between the two destinations from 2002 to 2004.
