Delta and American Express have extended their partnership
on co-branded SkyMiles credit cards through 2029.
Delta expects that the extension of the exclusive agreement
will boost revenue from the partnership to $7 billion by 2023, up from $3.4
billion last year.
Delta began partnering with Amex on credit cards in 1996.
Last year alone they added a million new SkyMiles credit card members, the
Holders of the cards earn SkyMiles points for expenditures
and receive benefits such as free checked bags, priority boarding and Sky Club
Airlines are increasingly leveraging credit card
partnerships, which offer high-margin revenue, to bolster earnings.
