Delta will launch seasonal flights from New York JFK to Munich and Naples, Italy, next summer.

The carrier will also resume seasonal JFK-Shannon, Ireland, service for the first time since 2019 and, from its Atlanta hub, will resume summer service to Zurich after a five-year hiatus.

The new and resuming routes were unveiled by Delta Friday as part of a broader overview of what it says will be its largest ever transatlantic schedule next summer. Delta had also previously announced plans to begin one other European route next summer: Minneapolis-Dublin.

Delta will fly JFK-Naples daily from May 23 through Oct. 25. No other airline flies that route, but Delta will compete for connecting flyers against American's recently announced Philadelphia-Naples service

Delta will operate JFK-Munich three-times weekly from April 9 through Oct. 24, competing against Lufthansa, Cirium flight schedule data shows. In addition, Lufthansa and its joint venture partner United fly to Munich from Newark.

Delta will compete against Ireland's Aer Lingus on JFK-Shannon. That route will be operated daily between May 23 and Oct. 6. United also flies to Shannon from Newark.

From Atlanta, Delta will fly four-times weekly to Zurich from Atlanta and will be the lone airline in the market.

The carrier will operate JFK-Shannon with a single-aisle Boeing 757 aircraft and the other three routes with widebody Boeing 767 planes.

With the additions in JFK, Delta will operate flights from New York to 29 destinations in Europe, Africa and the Middle East next summer.

Delta, on Friday, also announced frequency increases for next summer on six transatlantic routes.

And in the transpacific market, the airline said it will make its planned Los Angeles-Auckland, New Zealand, route year-round. The carrier is launching that route on Oct. 28 with daily service through March. From April through October the frequency will be three-times weekly.
