Hainan Airlines,
China’s largest privately owned carrier, has asked the DOT for permission to
operate the first nonstop commercial flight between Las Vegas and mainland China, the Las Vegas
Convention and Visitors Authority announced Thursday.
If approved, the
service between Las Vegas and Beijing would begin Dec. 2 and operate on
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Hainan will use Boeing 787 Dreamliners with
34 lie-flat seats in business class and 177 economy seats.
Las Vegas would be Hainan’s seventh U.S.
destination, joining New York, Boston, San Jose, Los Angeles, Chicago
and Seattle.
