Regional Japanese carriers Japan Air Commuter and Hokkaido Air System will become the newest affiliates of the Oneworld alliance, effective Oct. 25.

Both airlines are owned by Japan Airlines Group.

With their addition to the alliance, flyers on a Oneworld itinerary will have access to four new small airports in Japan to go along with the more than 50 Japanese airports that the alliance already serves. The four destinations are Kikai, Okinoerabu, Tajima and Yakushima.

Oneworld has 13 full members, including American, British Airways and Japan Airlines. More than 20 affiliates of those carriers are also part of the alliance. Alaska Airlines will join Oneworld early next year.
