Southwest Airlines will begin flying between Las Vegas and Hilo on Aug. 6. The service will operate three times per week.
Las Vegas will be Southwest's first mainland flight to Hilo, which is located on the east side of Hawaii's Big Island. No other carrier flies the route.
Southwest also operates regional service to Hilo from Honolulu five times per day.
