TAP Air Portugal has added a route from Boston to Ponta Delgada, the airline's only nonstop to the Azores from the U.S.
The service, which kicked off July 20, operates three times a week using new Airbus A321LR aircraft, with Business Class, Economy Class and EconomyXtra.
American, United, Lufthansa Group and International Airlines Group (parent of British Airways) are calling for the creation of a joint U.S-European Union Covid-19 testing program to facilitate the restart of transatlantic travel.
Through the end of July, the airline is offering customers a Book With Confidence program that allows free rebooking -- not including any difference in fares -- for all new tickets booked in July for travel through Oct. 31.
TAP also serves Lisbon from Boston, so U.S. travelers will now be able to fly either nonstop to and from the Azores or add a stopover in Lisbon on either trip.
Currently, Portugal is open to Portuguese-American visitors, and international arriving passengers to the U.S. are required to quarantine for 14 days when they arrive in Boston.
