Turkish Airlines will debut Istanbul-Newark service on May 21.
Newark, to which Turkish had initially planned to begin flying last May, will be the 10th U.S. gateway for the global carrier, joining Atlanta, Boston, Washington Dulles, Houston Bush, LAX, JFK, Miami, San Francisco and Chicago O'Hare.
Turkish has already resumed flying between Istanbul and each of those other destinations following route suspensions of varying lengths during the pandemic, Cirium flight schedule data shows.

The carrier will operate four flights a week to Newark through May, before switching to daily service. Turkish is scheduled to deploy an Airbus A330-300 on the route, according to Cirium. Turkish A330-300s are configured with 28 lie-flat seats and 261 economy seats, according to SeatGuru.
The Star Alliance member will be the lone carrier flying Istanbul-Newark. Star Alliance member United hubs out of Newark.
Turkish is also the only airline flying Istanbul-JFK.
