Hertz Global Holdings on Thursday said it will expand its program of "specified rental agreements" for drivers of the Lyft ride-hailing service while starting a similar program for Uber drivers.
Hertz and Lyft, which have run a pilot program for Las Vegas and Denver drivers since November, will expand that program to other U.S. markets. Meanwhile, Hertz will debut its Uber rental program in Los Angeles before expanding to other domestic cities.
In both cases, the agreement applies to off-airport car-rental locations.
The agreements appear to be similar to one U.S. rental-car leader Enterprise Holdings reached with Uber last December. Under that program, Uber's Denver drivers could rent Enterprise cars at what the companies said was a discounted rate and have rental fees deducted from their Uber earnings.
