LAS VEGAS -- Cox Communications and the Thomas & Mack Center at
the University of Nevada at Las Vegas formed a partnership to build
a multipurpose, state-of-the-art venue connected to the
university's Thomas & Mack Center.
The Cox Pavilion will host a variety of events, including small
concerts, boxing events, theater-style family shows, corporate
parties and trade shows.
The pavilion is due to open next spring. It will have three
levels, with the ground floor featuring new locker rooms; a middle
level featuring volleyball and basketball courts, and a third level
multipurpose venue with a seating capacity of 4,000.
As part of a $5 million agreement, Cox Communications has naming
rights to the facility as well as opportunities for sponsorship and
hospitality.
The Thomas & Mack Center is undergoing a massive renovation
that will add new amenities to the 15-year-old facility.
Renovations scheduled to be completed this fall include padded
seats throughout the arena, reconfigured stairways and escalators,
new concourse interior design, new directional signage, new ticket
offices, "fun" zones featuring a variety of interactive activities,
upgraded concession stands, brighter rest rooms and a new video and
scoring system.
