Spirit Airlines is among 11 new carriers that joined the TSA
PreCheck program.
With Spirit's move, all 10 of the largest U.S. airlines now
participate in the trusted-traveler program, which typically enables fliers to
pass through security without removing shoes or belts and without removing
laptops from their bags.
"We are thrilled to give our customers options for a
more efficient and expedited security screening experience," Spirit COO
John Bendoraitis said in a statement.
Among the 10 other airlines that joined PreCheck Thursday
are foreign carriers Emirates, Avianca, Virgin Atlantic, Aruba and Canadian
low-cost carrier Sunwing. In addition, regional airlines Boutique and Southern
Airways Express as well as charter operators Key Lime Air, Miami Air
International and Xtra Airways have joined the program.
A total of 30 airlines now participate in TSA PreCheck.
