LAS VEGAS --
Construction is scheduled to begin in May on a high-rise, luxury,
all-suite hotel and condominium tower that is a joint project of
Conrad Hotels and Las Vegas-based Majestic Resorts.
There will be no
casino in the tower.
Conrad officials
last year signed an agreement with Majestic Resort to operate and
manage the property, which is expected to open in December
2006.
The $350 million
project will be built on the north end of the Strip on the site of
the former La Concha Motel, one block north of Wynn Las Vegas
Resort and a half-block west of the Las Vegas Convention
Center.
Plans call for the
378-suite Conrad Hotel to occupy the lower 30 floors of the
propertys 60-story tower. The upper 30 floors will house the
286-unit Majestic Manors and Residences.
The 654-foot-tall
structure will feature a two-story entrance and lobby, where a
concierge, a 24-hour doorman and valet services will be
located.
The tower also will
offer a 14,000-square-foot health club and European spa complete
with an Olympic-sized, heated outdoor swimming pool, a staffed
business center, 13 meetings and boardroom facilities, one main and
one junior ballroom and an upscale dining, shopping and
entertainment complex called Majestic Plaza.
Measuring almost
100,000 square feet, the plaza will feature an international
newsstand, coffeehouse, bakery, wine and cheese shop, deli, sushi
bar, juice bar, gourmet market and three restaurants, including
Mastros Steakhouse and Jazz Club, where patrons can enjoy live
music and dancing seven nights a week.
The plaza also will
be home to a nightclub called Heaven.
