Dream Hotel Group is extending a 12% group commission rate
through the first quarter of 2019.
The company increased group commissions from 10% to 12% for select hotels last
April,
a move that countered commission cuts by major hotel companies. Marriott
International, Hilton, InterContinental Hotels Group and Hyatt have all cut
group commissions from 10% to 7% over the past year.
"The response we received from increasing the group
commission was so positive that extending the 12% commission through Q1 of this
year was a no-brainer," said Dream Hotel Group CEO Jay Stein in a
statement.
The 12% commission is available on group reservations booked
and actualized by March 31, 2019, with a minimum of 10 rooms. Dream Hotel Group
properties eligible for the extended rate include Dream Downtown and Dream
Midtown in New York, Dream South Beach, Dream Hollywood, Dream Nashville and
Dream Bangkok, as well as Time hotels in Manhattan and Nyack, N.Y., and the
Unscripted in Durham, N.C.
Dream Hotel Group is one of several players looking to carve
out opportunity amid the industry's widespread group commission cuts. Wyndham
Hotel Group has pledged to remain at 10%, while Preferred Hotels & Resorts
and Denihan Hospitality had offered temporary increases on group commissions.
