The new Dreams Dominicus La Romana
in the Dominican Republic will open in time for the summer travel season, according to AMResorts, operator of the Dreams Resorts & Spas brand.
The 478-room, family-friendly resort will be Dreams' 15th
property and AMResorts' eighth in the Dominican Republic, including the Dreams La Romana Resort
& Spa.
Dreams Dominicus La Romana actually is located in
Bayahibe, 10 minutes from La Romana and a 30-minute boat ride from the island
of Saona, a government protected natural reserve.
"The addition of a new resort in La Romana
is a direct response to demand from travelers for premium, all-inclusive
options in the Dominican Republic," said Javier Coll, executive vice
president and chief strategy officer of AMResorts' parent company, Apple Leisure Group. "The destination continues to be a priority
for Apple Leisure Group, as we expand our presence in existing markets while
seeking new areas for growth."
Gonzalo de Peon, AMResorts' president, said that
having a second resort in the La Romana area "reinforces our commitment to
being in the destinations where our guests want to be."
