Velas Resorts' fifth luxury all-inclusive has opened near
Cabo San Lucas, featuring two-story wellness suites, a 35,000-square-foot spa,
a convention center and several gourmet restaurants.
Grand Velas Los Cabos has 304 suites ranging from 1,180 to
3,400 square feet -- all with ocean views -- as well as an entry area that sits
300 feet above sea level.
All six wellness suites offer amenities such as a Life
Fitness recline bike, Vitamin C shower sprinkler, crudite minibar and
aromatherapy kit, plus the services of a spa concierge. Items from the spa's
juice bar are included. In-suite massages are offered.
The $150 million resort, which had its soft opening last
month, has five fine-dining restaurants and four bars. The resort's signature
restaurant, Cocina de Autor, is helmed by two-star Michelin chef Sidney
Schutte. Other on-property fine-dining options are Frida (Mexican cuisine),
Piaf (French), Lucca (Italian) and Velas 10 (seafood and steak).
For guests seeking a casual dining experience, there is the
all-day dining restaurant Azul. Cabrilla's specialty is ceviche. Amat Cafe
serves coffee specialties. Room service is available 24 hours.
Spa patrons who get treatments of at least 50 minutes can do
the spa's seven-step hydrotherapy experience, which includes a
eucalyptus-scented steam room, a polar pool, an aromatherapy sensory shower, a
sauna, a Jacuzzi and a multi-sensory pool.
Rates start at $750 per person, per night, based on double
occupancy.
Velas also operates Grand Velas resorts in the Riviera Maya
and Riviera Nayarit, plus the Casa Velas and Velas Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta.
