Hard Rock International
plans to open a Hard Rock hotel on New York’s 48th Street in spring 2019.
The new 445-room
Hard Rock Hotel New York will be between Seventh Avenue and Avenue of the
Americas. The area was once home to musical instrument shops such as Rudy’s and
Manny’s, which were frequented by Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and other rock stars.
“This block
has always been about music; a place where locals, visitors and musical
celebrities mixed as they shopped for the latest instruments and
music,” said Tim Hopkins, president of the Times Square Alliance.
“Never has a hotel been so perfectly situated.”
In addition to Hard Rock
hallmarks such as a music memorabilia collection, the Hard Rock Hotel New
York will feature rooftop music performances and an “upscale underground
speakeasy” that will “capture the essence of New York City’s music subculture,” the company said.
