Hilton Hawaiian Village considers expansion in accommodations

|

The Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort, Hawaii’s largest resort, may redevelop some existing retail space into accommodations, according to Pacific Business News.

The so-called Ala Moana land parcel may be redeveloped as a luxury hotel, timeshare units or residences. The parcel currently is home to Kobe Japanese Steak House and other restaurants and retail outlets.

Park Hotels & Resorts, the real estate investment trust that was recently spun off from Hilton Worldwide, owns the property. Park Hotels declined to comment on the Pacific Business News report.

The Hilton Hawaiian Village, which sits on 22 acres on Waikiki Beach, includes seven towers, 145,000 square feet of retail space and 20 restaurants and bars. The resort, whose history dates to the 1920s, will add a 37-story, 418-unit timeshare building later this year.
