Hilton Worldwide has signed deals to add nine Mexico hotels
to its portfolio, including the country’s first three under its Curio collection.
The Curio properties will be the 93-room Fives Downtown
Hotel Playa del Carmen, the 160-room 1970 Hotel Posadas Guadalajara and the
32-room Zacatecas Centro Historico.
The Fives Downtown Hotel Playa del Carmen will reflect the
region's natural offerings with a wall of live plants and embedded
elements that emulate the roots of trees. The hotel's rooftop will feature a
restaurant, cocktail bar, infinity pool, pool bar and lounge.
The 1970 Hotel Posadas Guadalajara will be centered around
an open-air courtyard lobby, featuring industrial metals and raw wood materials
with vivid pops of colors and elaborate patterns.
The Zacatecas Centro Historico will occupy a 19th-century
building, undergoing interior renovations before its anticipated opening in
early 2018. Adjoining retail space will house two restaurants, a coffee shop
and specialty stores.
Other new properties in development: a Hilton hotel in
Guadalajara, a Hampton Inn in Cancun and Hilton Garden Inn hotels in Merida, Mexico City and Saltillo.
In all, Hilton will expand its Mexico hotel inventory by 20%
and add almost 1,200 rooms in the country with the nine hotels. Hilton opened seven hotels in Mexico
last year.
