The Kimpton Atlantico Algarve, Kimpton's first resort in Portugal, has opened on São Rafael Beach.
The luxury lifestyle resort features 149 rooms and suites "inspired by the Mediterranean landscape and the tranquil pace of coastal life," said Kimpton. The resort said Portuguese designer Nini Andrade Silva "set the mood with natural textures and warm, earthy tones, while smooth stone surfaces, airy linens, handcrafted ceramics and timber accents come together to create interiors that evoke grounded elegance."

Terra is an all-day bar, café and market where guests can start their day with Portuguese pastries made with local ingredients like toasted almonds, oranges and Madeiran honey. Kimpton describes Sombra as a garden oasis featuring local seafood. Marés is a daytime beachfront restaurant serving items such as Mediterranean wood roasted beets and piri piri chicken. The Zénite rooftop bar offers ocean views.
The resort's Wellness Hub has a heated indoor pool, a hydroactive spa circuit with a flotation tank, jacuzzi, sauna, Turkish baths and gym. The facility offers a selection of massages and therapy sessions.
