Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has opened the Hotel Monaco Philadelphia. The hotel is in the Lafayette building, a former office building overlooking Independence Mall that Kimpton bought and renovated.
The building is an architectural landmark built in 1907. Kimpton said it has “preserved the building's historic integrity, from the original marble elevator banks up to the coffered ceiling.”
The 268-room hotel features the Red Owl Tavern, a restaurant with a rooftop lounge. Kimpton says complimentary wine is served for one hour every evening in the “sweeping living room lobby.”
The property also has 13,000 square feet of meetings space and a fitness center equipped with treadmills, elliptical machines and recumbent bikes, all with individual LCD TV screens.
